AI Governance & Control Layer

A proposed modular architecture connecting AI inventories, permissions, operational evidence, and human oversight.

Governance that
connects to operations.

AI governance becomes more challenging when systems are distributed across providers, applications, agents, and organizational teams.

Policies alone may not provide sufficient operational visibility. Organizations also need ways to identify AI systems, understand their permissions, review important actions, and collect evidence.

Syntrix Core is exploring an AI Governance & Control Layer intended to connect these governance concerns with the operational lifecycle of AI systems. This is our proposed flagship development direction.

Organizations adopting AI may encounter fragmented inventories, inconsistent approval processes, incomplete activity records, unclear ownership, and difficulty assembling evidence for internal review.

The severity of these challenges varies by organization, deployment, and risk profile. Our objective is to investigate whether a modular governance layer can address selected parts of this problem more effectively than disconnected processes alone.

Six modules.
One connected direction.

01 / PROPOSED MODULE

AI Inventory

A structured record of known AI systems, agents, owners, intended purposes, and relevant operational metadata.

UNDER DEVELOPMENT & VALIDATION

This explorer illustrates the proposed architecture. It is not a demonstration of a functioning governance platform.

Modular.
Integration-oriented.

At a conceptual level, the architecture may comprise:

  • An inventory and governance data layer.
  • A policy and permission configuration layer.
  • Integration points with AI applications and agent execution environments.
  • An event collection and evidence layer.
  • A review, monitoring, and reporting interface.
  • Access controls and administrative boundaries.

The final architecture will be determined through prototype implementation, security review, and testing.

From registration
to reviewable evidence.

  1. Register an AI system or agent.
  2. Document its purpose, owner, and risk context.
  3. Define the applicable permissions and approval requirements.
  4. Connect relevant operational event sources.
  5. Record selected actions and approval events.
  6. Route designated exceptions for human review.
  7. Assemble available evidence for authorized assessment.

This workflow describes the proposed direction. Its individual stages must be implemented and validated before being presented as functioning capabilities.

Practical questions.
Organization-specific answers.

  • Enterprise AI inventories and oversight.
  • Financial-sector AI governance processes.
  • Internal model and agent reviews.
  • Operational permission management.
  • Evidence preparation for internal audit.
  • Monitoring AI systems used in business workflows.

Specific applicability depends on organizational requirements, system coverage, legal obligations, and independent assessment.

Clear about where
we are today.

Current stage: A proposed governance and control architecture undergoing development and validation.

Intended direction: A modular set of tools that may support operational visibility, traceability, and governance workflows.

This is not currently represented as a completed enterprise platform, a certified compliance solution, a regulator-approved system, or a guarantee of compliant AI operations.

We welcome discussions with prospective design partners, technical researchers, governance specialists, and organizations interested in defining and testing practical AI control mechanisms.
